Review | Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder ♥

Hello Everyone!

I have been on the search for a good setting powder for the longest time ever. I have (extremely) oily skin so it is essential that I set my foundation with powder. To be honest, i haven't actually tried a lot of powders because I usually try and use up most of one powder before I start another. Some that I've tried include, MAC mineral powder, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Etude House Be Clear Pact etc, however none of these were able to control my oils so the search continues. This Innisfree no sebum powder has been raved a lot as one of the best Korean affordable powders which is why I really wanted to try it out.

Brand: Innisfree
Name: No Sebum Mineral Powder
Price: $9.01 AUD
Weight: 5 grams
Shade: -
Where to buy: Ebay
Description: Finely milled loose powder sops up excess sebum to give skin a lovely, matte finish. Velvety soft is formulated with Jeju natural mineral and natural originated mint, select ingredients that nourish and pamper to greatly improve skin health. Use as the last step of your makeup routine to prolong foundation wear. Recommended for combination and oily skin types.

So first of all, packaging. It's a very simple small mint coloured plastic container. Once you open the lid, the powder just sits there because there is nothing to cover the holes (other than the powder puff that comes it, but I don't use it so I removed it from the container). You have to be really careful when opening the container because if you shake it too much, powder will go everywhere.

As you can see in the picture, the powder is a fine white powder that will turn transluscent when applied to the face. However, I did notice that although it's meant to be transluscent, it does leave a bit of a white cast on the face so it's not very suitable for parties or if you'll be taking photos with flash photography.

In terms of application, this powder is super lightweight and doesn't feel heavy on top of foundation. I apply this at the end of my makeup routine and it instantly mattifies my face and blurs some of my pores near my nose. However, I noticed that it doesn't provide a long lasting effect because my face starts getting oily after around 2 hours of wear. I've tried touching up with this product and applying this over my oily areas but it ended up caking up my foundation and made my skin look really gross so I definitely wouldn't recommend this for touch ups.

Another thing to mention about this powder is it's scent. This product has a pretty strong herbal minty scent so if you're not a fan of scented makeup products, I'd skip this powder.

Side note: Because I wasn't much of a fan of it's performance on my face, I decided to experiment with this product and recently discovered a new use for this powder. This powder is actually excellent as a replacement for dry shampoo. Most of the time I wash my hair everyday but on the occasions that I have second day hair, I use a fluffy powder brush and put some of the powder on my fringe (which tends to get the oiliest) and it immediately makes my hair look voluminous and perfect again! It's actually one of the best hair hacks I've discovered and it's a much cheaper option than getting dry shampoo as well!

Verdict

Packaging
♥ ♥  / 5
Standard packaging and lightweight. It can get quite messy though because it's a loose powder.

Price
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  / 5
I think the price is the best thing about this product. It's a really affordable powder and although there's only 5g of product, it actually lasts a pretty long time.

Performance
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ / 5
In terms of performance on my face I would only rate this about a 2.5/5 but for it's performance on my hair as a dry shampoo I'd rate it a 5/5! Because with dry shampoos, it tends to leave white patches on my hair and it's usually hard to get an even distribution with the spray nozzle. However, with this transluscent powder, it immediately dissapears in the hair without leaving patches and instantly makes my hair look fresh again!

Pros
- Affordable
- Lightweight packaging
- Comes with a powder puff
- Product lasts a long time
- Great substitute for dry shampoo

Cons
- Doesn't control oil very well on face
- Leaves white cast
- Doesn't work well for touch ups
